Affirmations to Define (or Redefine) Yourself

Read the set of related affirmations in this post aloud. It’s important to your conscious and subconscious mind to hear the affirmations said in your own voice. Choose one or two of the affirmations from the set to start working with. You only need one or two affirmations, used consistently, to make a substantial change in your life.

Affirmations are most effective when said aloud. Studies have proven that it’s impossible to think a negative thought and make a positive statement aloud at the same time. Use this principle to halt negative thoughts in their tracks and turn them around.

Say your chosen affirmation loud enough for your mind to hear your voice saying the words and take notice of how you feel as you begin and as you continue your practice. Feeling better? Repeat your chosen affirmation at least twice a day – morning, and night – for at least 30 days, and reinforce your affirmation by writing it in your journal.

Affirmations are powerful, positive sentences that can change your mindset. Don’t focus on challenges and lack, but on healthy self-esteem and unshakeable self-confidence. You can leverage the power of affirmations in your life by beginning an affirmation practice – using one or two favorite affirmations over the course of 30 to 60 days to permanently change your mindset and by extension, your life.

Comment below that you’ve started this process. Add entries in your journal each day as to how you’re feeling. Note the positive changes you’ve made and celebrate them! Send me a note using the contact form and let me know how you’re doing!

Defining yourself is a critical part of living a complete and positive life. YOU get to decide what words and principles are used to describe you and define your life. How you speak about yourself is a foundational part of how you define yourself.

The affirmations below are intended to give you a positive foundation for your self-definition. Describe yourself – aloud – as who you WANT to be, who you CURRENTLY are – there are more than enough messages about what you are not broadcast over social media, television, and radio.

The foundation of modern advertising is that the message makes us think about what we are NOT, and sells us on the idea that the product or service being advertised is the answer to our deficiencies. Multiply that negative message – that we LACK something important – by the hundreds of thousands of impressions we are exposed to throughout our lives, and it’s even MORE important that we counter those negative messages on a daily basis with an affirmation practice.

Read the affirmation statements below and take note of which ones resonate most strongly with you. Also note which ones challenge you – which ones bring up resistance in your heart, mind, body, and spirit. Choose one affirmation that feels easy, and then another one that’s not quite so easy.

Start using BOTH affirmations consistently for the next 30 to 60 days, and you may find that the affirmation that challenged you, in the beginning, becomes easier and easier to say, believe, and live into. When that happens, you’re well on your way to countering the negative messages you’ll also hear. The affirmation said in YOUR voice makes more of an impact.

Choose how you want to define yourself – YOU have the power!
