A spiritual life doesn’t necessarily lead to tranquility, to peace, or to a beautiful feeling about yourself or about how nice it is to be together with others. The chipping-away process can hurt. It might mean being lonely in a place where you never wanted to go. It might lead you to a vocation you never sought. It might ask you to do uncomfortable things. Or it might ask you to obediently and routinely do comfortable things that are not very dramatic when you prefer adventure.

about the journey
Why Pursue Spiritual Authenticity?
Spirituality is a very personal concept - it can describe an experience of connection to something larger than you, a way of living your everyday life in a reverent and sacred manner and can also refer to the way people seek and express meaning in their lives.
How do we find meaning? How do we define and pursue a sense of connectedness to the present moment, to ourselves, to other human beings, to nature, and to what we would call significant or sacred?
Following a spiritual path or adopting a mode of spirituality without doing the work to make sure that it's right for you is a recipe for disaster - and you deserve to develop a personal spiritual practice that is true to your mind, your heart, and your spirit.
Authenticity is the quality of being real and genuine, not copied, or false. To define authenticity completely and fully is to refer to proven facts - and when dealing with perfectly imperfect human beings, it can be hard to tell what's real and what's not.
A picture used to be worth a thousand words - but when today's pictures are Photoshopped out of reality, that "thousand" words matters even more, and the words are harder to find, define, and trust.
Living an Authentic life means that you're making a focused and consistent effort to learn and understand who you are - inside and out. It means being unafraid to speak your authentic words - the ones that reveal and honor truth of who you are - and to live your authentic life - no matter what "experts," friends, or loved ones might say.
Making the decision to live a Spiritually Authentic Life means that first you must decide to BE Spiritual,
and secondly, you must decide to take the extra step to BE Authentic.
In a world of unrealistic expectations, computer-adjusted "reality" and hard-to-spot fakes,
you make the consistent and focused effort to stay REAL, down to the very core of who you are, with room to adjust for who you are becoming. Being authentic also means that you leave room for growth - refusing to be stuck in one place that no longer serves you.

Spiritual Direction vs Spiritual Companionship
What's the difference?
Spiritual Direction is the practice of being with people as they attempt to deepen their relationship with the divine, or to learn and grow in their own personal spirituality. The Spiritual Director listens and asks questions to assist a client in his or her process of reflection and spiritual growth. The term has associations and a long history in the Abrahamic faith traditions and can also be found in Judaism and the Islamic Sufi path.
Spiritual Companionship has a slightly different focus in that the term "companion" is broader and more inclusive. The heart of the work of a Spiritual Companion is to walk alongside the seeker as a friend, listening and honoring the sacred stories being told and the experiences that are shared. Spiritual Companionship can be accomplished through a variety of vocations and modalities.
As a Spiritual Director & Companion, I am a multi-religious helper for women seeking a spiritual or religious tradition that honors all of who they are - spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. I engage my clients in open and non-judgmental ways, steeped in contemplative practices and deep listening, and provide guidance to empower them to find answers and connection with that which is beyond our physical realm. I am available to work with clients regardless of religion, spiritual understanding, or orientation.
